2013: Wells

Throughout 2011 and 2012 we visited villages to deliver water

filters. This gave us the opportunity to speak to families to  understand their hardships. We learned through this experience that although families could now filter their water, they still had to walk hours each day to fetch water from a dirty water source.  This hardship prevents girls from attending school as traditionally it is a female's chore to fetch water for her family. We realized the only way to solve this problem was by installing water wells in villages so girls wouldn't have to walk for water. We focused our efforts for wells for rural villages in Cambodia. We were fortunate enough to have the support of Rotary International to support us and throughout 2013 & 2014 we raised over $60,000--  enough for 20 communal wells and thousands of water filters.
