2015: Sustainable Farming
As 2015 progressed, we watched the village of Beung Kok grow and prosper through the Four Girls for Families Rotary International Grant which, approved in 2015, brought sustainable farming to the village's families. Parents learned how to grow their own crops, harvesting some for their families, some for market and some to store for the droughts ahead. Families were also finally able to access the clean drinking water they needed through the grant's clean water initiative which included deep community wells and series of bio-sand filters.
2015 was also the year we embarked on our largest project to date, the fundraising for an 450-student schoolhouse in Sret, Cambodia, one hour east of Siem Reap. This school replaced the old crumbling schoolhouse which was no longer safe for the children to use.
